Rediscover connection.
Financial Therapy for Couples in NC
Sound like you?
Despite being happy in other areas of your relationship, you struggle to manage money together in a way that feels good to BOTH of you. On the outside you seem to have it all together but inside you are struggling to get on the same page.
You need a safe and supportive space to talk together about your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about money without being judged.
I’m here for you.
You have been trying to get your spouse to sit down and talk about a plan for your money for years but nothing works. It has become impossible to talk to them about money without them either getting upset or avoiding the topic.
Whether you have been together for a few years or a few decades it is possible for you and your partner to talk about money in a new way. One that leads to connection instead of conflict. I’m here to help you.
How I can help
Couples financial therapy can help you and your partner have more meaningful and productive conversations about money.
I help couples who have a hard time talking about money, stop avoiding these conversations and start working as a team to achieve their individual and shared financial goals for the future. The couples I have worked with have shared that having me as a guide has helped them express and understand eachothers perspectives, address unhelpful relationship dynamics around money and then move toward more grown up discussions about how they are going to manage their money together. They report feeling closer and more connected as a result of our work together.
Some special topics that I help couples work through in Couples Financial Therapy include:
Recovering and reconnecting after financial infidelity
Improving effective communication and reducing tension in everyday financial conversations
Navigating very different financial backgrounds
Prenup and Postnup disgreements
Here’s what we’ll do together
Financial therapy can help you feel connected to your partner
We will unpack the ways in which your family, friends, and larger cultural systems, etc. have contributed to the story you each tell yourself about money and identify ways in which this story is playing out in your relationship. We will also explore how each of you experience the current dynamic in your relationship as it relates to money and bring awareness to the role you each play in maintaining this dynamic. I will point out when I see you getting stuck in old patterns and guide you in practicing new ways of relating to your self, money and your partner in session. You will know our work together is done when you and your partner can have honest and open conversations about money, have a plan for how you are going to approach money conversations in the future, and feel confident in your ability to address difficult money topics without me present.
