Financial Therapy for Individuals in NC

I work with clients across the financial and wealth spectrum from people who have inherited or sudden wealth to high-income clients who grew up in low-income households.

Its time to get curious about the role money is playing in your life.

Some examples of the issues clients come to me with include:

  • Holding on to a large amount of money in their bank account out of fear of investing.

  • Being overly financially generous in their relationships to their own detriment.

  • Knowing what they need or want to do with their money, but there is something getting in the way that they just can’t seem to work through on their own.

  • Experiencing a continued increase in income, but feeling like it will never be enough.

  • Sudden wealth due to the sale of a business or inheritance that is bringing up unexpected negative feelings.

  • Wanting to downshift or pause their career but struggling with the idea of making significantly less money.

  • Feeling guilty for keeping financial secrets from a partner.

How I can help

Financial Therapy for individuals can help you address the unconsious money beliefs that are keeping you stuck.

I create a comfortable space where my clients can speak openly about their experiences related to money without fear of judgement. Many of my clients share that they feel some relief in our first session just being able to talk about their feelings about money out loud with someone who gets it. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist I help clients gain insight into why they think, feel and behave with money the way they do within the context of the family they come from and the larger social systems that influence them.

While having insight into your relationship with money is helpful, it is only the first step toward meaningful, long-lasting change. Once we understand the “why”, then we can move into what you are really needing that money hasn’t been able to give you. I help you identify actions you can begin to take that give you more of what you need and less of what you don’t. This might include setting boundaries for yourself in relationships, establishing a mindfulness practice, taking care of your physical health, learning to feel and cope with your feelings, and/or learning and practicing radical self-compassion.

Here’s what we’ll do together

Financial therapy can help you feel at ease with the money you have.

Together we will unpack the stories you have been telling yourself about yourself and money, many of which have been unconscious and outside of your awareness. We will name the ways in which these stories aren’t your fault. They are the unique and complex combination of many systemic factors that have led you to this point in your life. We will work together to identify ways that work for you to calm your nervous system so that you can talk about and interact with your money with a sense of ease instead of from a place of fear, shame or confusion. We will implement strategies for over or under spending so that your spending aligns with what is most important to you.

What we’ll work on

You’ll walk away with —

01

An increased capacity to feel and manage your feelings that come up around money.

02

The ability to confidently make financial and life decisions that truly align with your unique values.

03

A deeper understanding of the role money has been playing in your life.

04

A deeper connection to yourself and and others.

Change is possible.
